Youth in Transition Program 330-535-3263 | Serves both in-school and out-of-school emerging immigrant and refugee youth ages 14-21 in Summit County. These youth are from the Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Latino, Haitian, Hmong, Lao, Serbo-Croatian, Thai and Vietnamese communities. Receive life and employability skills, career exploration, leadership training, manage and operate their participant-run company, Teen Creation, Inc. Attend the International Community Empowerment Project to receive ESL Enrichment, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug (ATOD) prevention, and gym. | East Akron Community House EDGE Program 330-773-6838 | Provides youth opportunities to explore careers in the medical field, gain valuable work experience and access academic support to graduate from high school. Students also receive case management services that monitor attendance, school behavior and academic performance throughout the school year, as well as subsidized employment as part of their work readiness training. | Summit County Dept. of Communications - YES Program 330-643-7886 | Serves in-school, younger youth from 17 schools throughout the county. Provides at-risk youth with valuable work experience while they earn a wage. Monitors youth’s academic progress and prescribe and provide intervention as necessary.
