Summit/Medina One-Stop System Certified by State of Ohio

(11-19-2004) -- The Summit/Medina Workforce Investment Board is pleased to announce that the State of Ohio has certified the Summit/Medina One-Stop workforce development system. Of the 31 statewide One-Stop systems, Summit/Medina is one of only four systems that have been officially approved. Certification provides additional funding for marketing and outreach.

Summit County Executive James B. McCarthy stated that "The certification of our One-Stop system by the State of Ohio is a significant achievement. It is the result of the hard work and dedication of our workforce board, staff and One-Stop partners. This important recognition confirms our mission of maximizing employment and economic opportunity by being the resource for every employer and job seeker in the region.”

Medina County Commissioner Sharon Ray added, “This certification reflects well on the work of our partners and staff and the services that they provide to the community.”

The State of Ohio developed the One-Stop certification process to meet the oversight requirements of the Workforce Investment Act. The evaluation process involved a rigorous review by a certification team from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The review included a detailed analysis of six components of One-Stop system including, General Information, One-Stop Resource Room, Sustainability, Facility, and Employer Services. The team also evaluated compliance with the Malcolm Baldrige Continuous Improvement / Quality Principles. The Baldrige examines seven main categories of organizational behavior: Leadership, Strategic Planning, Customer and Market Focus, Information and Analysis, Human Resource Focus, Process Management, and Business Results.
